We plan to hold a long walk at least every six months - one in spring and one in autumn. These will demand a modicum of fitness and be long (20+ miles approx) covering hilly land or coastal paths. It is intended that at least one of these will be a two-day event and include an overnight camp. |
It is hoped that at least one other walk will be planned each month. - local weekly walks will be introduced if there is the interest. |
With a view to expanding walkers understanding of the countryside sessions will be organised to include map-reading, bush craft, old country crafts and skills, plant identification and uses, flora and fauna identification and habits, safety & emergency first aid, outdoors cooking and local history. |
If anyone has any special skills or knowledge of any country type subject please let John know so he can include it in our events. |
We also hope to hold a Kloeting Competition at one of the forthcoming events - this is a gentle, game similar to linear bowls played on the Dutch/German border. |
If anyone has any specific walk they would like included then please contact John with the details. |
